Lose yourself on the slopes of the hills of Tatti, and you might stumble upon the vineyard of Tenuta Il Sassone, a unique place, off the beaten path, and a bit secretive.
There, we decided to build our Winery because the Maremma Toscana is an ideal land to rejoice and to be inspired to produce great wines.
Great land, great wines
The Mediterranean climate is its authentic blessing. No secret and no magic recipe. The sea breeze keeps the vineyards healthy. The soils, generous, rich in minerals, and rigorously managed under certified organic farming, give character to the grapes. Our territory, rich in woods and biodiversity, is the ideal setting for the winery in Tuscany.
In the vineyards, we primarily cultivate native varieties such as Ciliegiolo and Vermentino, along with international grape varieties like Syrah, which has found a home in Maremma for many years. The mission of the work in the cellar is to preserve the aromatic heritage of the grapes, vinifying them in search of elegance and the utmost respect for their character. Without forcing, only guiding nature.
Our Winery predominantly produces single-varietal wines from native grapes, including Vermentino and Ciliegiolo, but also an extraordinary Syrah—a grand and unique interpretation of the light and warmth of Maremma.
Here are our labels:
– SC Confiente – DOC Maremma Toscana – Syrah – Red
– SC Poggiocurzio – DOC Maremma Toscana – Ciliegiolo – Red
– SC Fontefossoli – IGT Toscana – Red
– SC Corollo – DOC Maremma Toscana – Rosé
– SC Birbo – DOC Maremma Toscana – Vermentino – White Wine
The tour begins on the large Terrace, where the gaze wanders over the woods, pastures, and embraces the vineyards. Then, you descend to enter the Winery, crossing the Vinification Room with tall tanks in wood, concrete, and steel, the Barrel Room, and the Packaging Room. Finally, after about 1 hour, it concludes in the Wine Shop. Here, you can purchase our wines and our organic extra virgin olive oil.
To complete the experience and taste our products, we suggest booking the Wine Tasting or Tasting Menu.
The visit, by reservation, is available for both individual enthusiasts and groups. We welcome children who can also visit the Stable where our horses and our friendly donkey Birbo live.
You can visit every day from April to October during the following hours: morning 9:30-12:30 and afternoon 16:30-19:00 to discover our wines, their history, and make purchases. A reservation call is appreciated.
After the winery tour or simply to have an enogastronomic experience, you can ask for the Wine Tasting or the more comprehensive option with the Tasting Menu. (by reservation)
Served in the Villa, the Wine Tasting allows you to sample our wines accompanied by typical cured meats and cheeses from our Maremma, prepared by the kitchen. Additionally, we can include savory pies and finger food for a tasty brunch or appetizing aperitif.
The Tasting Menu is a menu of three or four courses designed to offer our wines paired with revisited recipes from the Tuscan tradition that enhance their qualities.
